The EMC Effect in Spin Structure Functions
We intend to perform the first measurements of the spin-dependent EMC effect utilizing CLAS12 in Hall B. We will polarize Li, in which a highly polarized proton is embedded in a nuclear medium, using a LiH target. The experiment measures the spin structure function g p|Li 1 in a range of 2 < Q 2 < 9 GeV and 0.1 < x < 0.7. This spin dependent EMC effect emphasizes the quark polarization degrees ...
متن کاملNuclear EMC Effect in a Statistical Model
A simple statistical model in terms of light-front kinematic variables is used to explain the nuclear EMC effect in the range x ∈ [0.2, 0.7], which was constructed by us previously to calculate the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the nucleon. Here, we treat the temperature T as a parameter of the atomic number A, and get reasonable results in agreement with the experimental data. Our re...
متن کاملQuark-Hadron Duality and the Nuclear EMC Effect
Recent data on polarized proton knockout reactions off He nuclei suggest a small but nonzero modification of proton electromagnetic form factors in medium. Using model independent relations derived on the basis of quarkhadron duality, we relate the medium modification of the form factors to the modification at large x of the deep-inelastic structure function of a bound proton. This places stron...
متن کاملNuclear and partonic dynamics in the EMC effect
It has been recently confirmed that the magnitude of the EMC effect measured in electron deep inelastic scattering is linearly related to the Short Range Correlation scaling factor obtained from electron inclusive scattering. By using a x-rescaling approach we are able to understand the interplay between the quark-gluon and hadronic degrees of freedom in the discussion of the EMC effect. PACS. ...
متن کاملQuark distributions in nuclear matter and the EMC effect
Quark light cone momentum distributions in nuclear matter and the structure function of a bound nucleon are investigated in the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. This framework describes the nucleon as a relativistic quark-diquark state, and the nuclear matter equation of state by using the mean field approximation. The scalar and vector mean fields in the nuclear medium couple to the ...
